Developmental Asset Training is available through the Family & Children First Council of Huron County for all agencies that work with youth. 

This evidence-based 4-hour training focuses on incorporating the 40 Developmental Asset information into your current curriculum and programming, with an emphasis on empowering youth.

TRANSFORM is an annual backpacking trip that incorporates Life Skill development through trip preparation and implementation. Skills included focus on team building, communication, planning, decision making, self awareness, coping skills, and physical fitness. We utilize the evidence-based Overcoming Obstacles curriculum.

TRANSFORM was created for teens 13-17 years of age that are involved with two or more of our partnering agencies. Teens are referred by those agencies. 

Clinics for the trip are scheduled to begin in June 2021. The trip will be held over Labor Day Weekend.

Mom and a Child

Course content includes:

  • Safety Skills: Indoor safety, outdoor safety, online safety, and personal safety.

  • Child Care Skills: Child development, child care routines (including diapering practice), and behavior management.

  • First Aid & Rescue Skills: Injury prevention, injury management, and choking rescue. CPR is an optional component.

  • Life & Business Skills: Screening jobs, setting fees, and greeting employers.

*The class is designed for youth that have completed 5th grade through age 14 years.
